Certain supplies are already in short supply For example, 3M reports it doesn't have enough masks. Coca Cola has announced it doesn't have enough artificial sweeteners (example: Splenda) for its colas because it gets its supply from China. Here is a list of some items you might like to have in your home in case we are in for a long haul.
Canned goods, dry goods, water, and batteries.

Make an emergency kit. It might include first aid supplies, phone numbers, addresses and a list of your medications.
Keep your gas tank full.
